Our Ocean Safari in La Ventana is a 6-hour marine wildlife expedition through La Ventana Bay and the waters around Cerralvo Island, created for ocean lovers who want to experience the wild and unpredictable beauty of the Gulf of California.
This is not a fixed snorkeling tour or a guaranteed wildlife show. It is a real ocean safari. We head out across the bay in search of the marine life that nature allows us to find that day — mobula rays, dolphins, whales, sea lions, turtles, manta rays, sharks, marlin, or even orcas.
Every tour is different. Some days the ocean gives us unforgettable encounters with several species in one trip. Other days, wildlife can be harder to find, even after several hours at sea. That is part of exploring the ocean in a respectful and authentic way.
When we find marine life, our guides evaluate the species, behavior, conditions, and safety of the encounter. Depending on what we see and how the animals are moving, we decide whether it is possible to enter the water for snorkeling or free diving, or whether the best experience is to observe respectfully from the boat.
Our goal is always the same: to give you the best possible chance of a meaningful wildlife encounter while respecting the animals, the ocean, and the natural behavior of each species.

This tour is designed for travelers who understand that the ocean is wild, alive, and unpredictable. We do not follow a scripted route or promise specific animals. Instead, we use local knowledge, experience, seasonal patterns, ocean conditions, and wildlife behavior to search for the best encounters available that day.
Mobula rays are one of the most iconic species in La Ventana. Also known as devil rays, they are famous for their graceful movements, large schools, and spectacular seasonal aggregations. They can be seen throughout the year, with peak activity often between April to July, when chances of seeing large groups may increase.
During the tour, we may also encounter dolphins, whales, sea lions, sea turtles, manta rays, tropical fish, sharks, marlin, and occasionally orcas or false killer whales. Some of these encounters are rare and depend completely on nature, season, luck, and ocean conditions.
If conditions allow, snorkeling and free diving may be possible with certain species. However, entering the water always depends on the animal’s behavior, visibility, currents, safety, and the guide’s decision. Sometimes the most responsible and beautiful experience is to watch from the boat.
Our expert guides will take you through different areas of La Ventana Bay and Cerralvo Island, searching for wildlife and, when appropriate, visiting snorkeling and free diving spots with reefs, rock formations, and rich marine life. Depending on the season and the conditions, sites such as La Reyna may be included for its biodiversity and underwater landscapes.
After time on the water, we may stop at one of Cerralvo Island’s beautiful beaches to relax, enjoy the scenery, and take in the peaceful side of this wild marine environment.

Marine wildlife encounters are never guaranteed. This is the ocean, and every day is different.
We may see several species in one tour, or we may spend hours searching with fewer sightings. Some guests are lucky enough to encounter dolphins, mobulas, whales, and even orcas in a single day. Others may book multiple days and experience quieter ocean conditions.
For this reason, we always recommend booking with an open mind and an adventurous spirit. The Ocean Safari is about exploring the wild marine world of La Ventana and Cerralvo Island, not about forcing an encounter.
